The student & their goal.
Rahul had a strong academic record in computer engineering and a dream of building his career in Canada's tech ecosystem. When he approached Global Scholar, he had already spent months researching on his own — overwhelmed by conflicting advice online and unsure which universities would accept him without a stellar GPA. He wanted more than just an admit; he wanted a program that would give him a genuine pathway into the Canadian job market.
What was standing in the way.
Rahul's profile was solid but not exceptional — a 7.2 CGPA and two internships. Many top Canadian universities have cut-offs of 7.5+, and the programs with direct PGWP eligibility had high competition. He also had a short application window, having missed earlier intake deadlines. The challenge was identifying universities with the right program-to-industry alignment, a realistic entry profile, and strong co-op or industry tie-ups.
I had given up on Canada after seeing the GPA requirements everywhere. Global Scholar showed me there were real options — and not just fallback options, but programs I'm genuinely proud to have attended. The SOP they helped me write got comments from my professor about being one of the strongest applications they'd seen.

How Global Scholar made it happen.
- 01
Profile Evaluation & Gap Analysis
We ran a deep audit of Rahul's academic record, projects, and internships against a database of 40+ Canadian CS/engineering programs — identifying institutions where his profile was genuinely competitive.
- 02
Targeted University Shortlist
We shortlisted 6 universities across Ontario and BC, prioritising programs with co-op placements, industry advisory boards, and Post-Graduate Work Permit eligibility — giving Rahul maximum chances without spreading him thin.
- 03
SOP & Application Support
Our counselors worked through three drafts of Rahul's Statement of Purpose, reframing his internship experiences as outcome-driven narratives aligned with each university's program objectives.

Visa & Pre-Departure Prep
Once Rahul received his offer letter from York University, we guided the full Student Visa (Study Permit) application — document checklist, GIC arrangement, financial proofs — and his visa was approved in under 3 weeks.
Where they are now.
Rahul received admits from 3 of the 6 universities we targeted. He chose York University's MEng program in Computer Science, which came with a CAD 8,000 merit scholarship. He completed his program with a 3.8 GPA, secured a co-op placement at a Toronto-based fintech startup, and converted that to a full-time role. His 3-year PGWP was approved within 30 days of graduation.
